Lake 11980 on Shastina

Lake 11980 on Shastina

The unnamed lake inside the south rim of Shastina's crater just begining to melt out in early July 2010. At 11,980 feet it is the highest subaerial lake in the Cascade Range.

Re: Very

Thanks rebelgrizz! And I agree. Looking down on the lakes in Shastina's crater from Shasta is actually what gave me a craving to visit there. I just had to see them up close.

Turned out to be pretty neat. You could poke at the snow under the water with your poles and big chunks would break off and float up, not to mention the nice color.
