We did the Decalibron from Kite Lake. Democrat was a cool summit with killer views. We then did Quandary after the four peaks. Amazing area!!
We were trying to make a loop of the 4 summits in this area. We made it up Democrat and then thunder started moving in. We decided to bail and head back to the parking lot. By the time we got back down it was beautiful out again with no rain or thunder at all. So we were either a couple hours too late or an hour too early. Either way, fun summit, if not a little disappointing.
Bluebird day, amazing views of the Sawatch Range from Democrat's summit. Couldn't find the marker or the register though...anyone from the CFI care to place one?
Done in combo with Lincoln, Bross, and Cameron.
Didn't start early enough. Thunderstorms prevented us from climbing Lincoln. Oh well.
Did Lincoln, Cameron, and Bross today also. We had beautiful weather, which was a nice change from the 4 days rain previously.
Climbed all 4 summits. Overall easy climbs except the fact I got sick. There all very fun!
Hiked with Cameron, Lincoln and Bross from Kite Lake
Fun scramble along the ridge. Climbed Lincoln and Bross one day, and Democrat the second.
I remember being alone on my ascent up Democrat (my dad was about a quarter mile behind me). Those were the days...
Wife, dog and I. Want to head for the others, but with both of us feeling like poo and an increasing wind, called it a one mountain day...
All alone on this popular 14er. I was out of shape, hiking in deep snow. Tough day.
Hiked all 4 on a really clear Colorado summer day.
Some of the fiercest wind I've ever encountered. Not much snow higher up...it's all been blown away. HIGHLY variable snow conditions. Bailed on Cameron due to the wind.
One of the easier 14ers.
This was by far the coolest peak of the group in all respects.
Felt like February.....postholing in snow to my knees and extremely strong winds.
1st of the three!
Happy 3rd wedding anniversary to Chris and Marni on the DeCaliBron. Rainy weather on and off all day but never any thunderstorms.
