Was like a pilgrimage going up the trail.
With Susan Berry.
Great fall hike with lots of wind and almost no other people on the Democrat-Cameron-Lincoln-Bross loop.
A great trip to Mosquito.
The first summit in my completion of all of the Tenmile/Mosquito Range 14ers in 31 hours.
Peak #1 less than 24 hours after coming from near sea level. Biannual western trip. Felt the altitude.
Summit 1 of my route. Nice and relatively quick with great views.
Started at 5:30, summited a bit before 8 am. First of four today.
Came back to do the loop with my Dad. Much better conditions today.
Bagged Democrat as the first of four Fourteeners which are part of the Decalibron Loop. By itself, Democrat was the easiest Fourteener I have done to date, and the whole loop was about the same distance and elevation gain as Quandary. The loop was one of my top-3 favorite hikes I've done so far since living in CO.
Windy day, measured at 70mph. Just did the one summit, no desire to get blasted all day.
#1 of Decalibron. Took me 3 hours from trailhead, no wind and plenty of sunshine. Awesome views. Wish I knew all the mountains I was looking at.
From Kite Lake. Nice summit, probably won't ascend this route again though.
My buddy Tim Foltz and I decided to head up the west face of the southern ridge, which made for a fun addition to the normal route from the east which we already had done. Yet, since we did not bring a rope - we realized at the summit that it wouldn't be safe to head back the way we came... so we ended up having to bag Cameron and come down to the 4WD drove to hitch hike all the way back past Copper Mountain.
P.S. Its not so easy to hitch hike with an ice axe in hand... i suggest put it away...
Democrat was a nice summit, took my two nephews and it was too much for them to go on to do the other three. So,,, I am going back this summer to complete the task
Climbed as part of the Decalibron loop.
