Failure via Lincoln's Throat

Long slog on Lincolns Throat - ski descent was fun. but a sketchy bushwhack at the top made me turn around.

Climbed this along with Little Haystack (not a 4000 footer) and Lafayette as a training hike with a heavy pack. Beautiful weather on this summit day!

Cold but Beautiful!  Sucess!

Came up via Little Haystack from Falling Waters, left via Lafayette and the Old Bridle Path. Cold at the summits but the views were amazing.

Nice views  Sucess!

Early start meant I actually got some solitude on this trail. Starting running into the crowds heading down Falling Waters trail though.

Crystal clear skies  Sucess!

Pretty cold and windy at the top, but perfect vies in every direction. Stayed at the top for about 5 minutes before I couldn't feel my hands anymore and started back down.

First Lincoln  Sucess!

unseasonably warm with little wind. Would have been perfect except for the low cloud cover that obstructed all views.

Perfect for October Foliage  Sucess!

Franconia Ridge from north to south via the Skookumchuck and Garfield Ridge Trails to the summit of Mt. Lafayette (5,260’). We will then follow the Franconia Ridge Trail over Mt. Lincoln (5,089’) to Little Haystack Mtn. (4,750’) before taking the Falling Waters Trail down to Lafayette Place.

Nice component of the Pemi Loop  Sucess!

I bagged this peak as part of a 1.5 day Pemi Loop trip where I bagged 10 4K summits in all (plus a few that didn't count). The weather was incredible, but the ridge line was bone dry and had I been smart I would have refilled my water at Liberty Spring because I was desperate by the time I was coming off Garfield. I didn't enjoy Lincoln or Lafayette as much because of the intense crowds. I like my summit solitude and there was none of that because of the day-hiking city dwellers who climb them and have a picnic/party on the summit... I am glad they are getting out into nature I just don't want to share my summits with 100 strangers. My favorites of them all were West Bond and Bond Cliff where solitude abounded and the stark beauty of the ledges around the summits made for great places to quietly sit and appreciate what God has made for us to experience if we just step out of our comfort zone a bit.

Mount Lincoln Climb  Sucess!

Did this mountain as part of the Franconia Ridge loop; an 8.9 mile trail over 6 summits, including Lafayette. Cold, icy, very windy, exhausting, but exhilarating with excellent views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness when the weather is clear.

Fun in the snow  Sucess!

My girlfriend and I set off on the Falling Waters trail around 6am, arriving at the summit of Little Haystack around 9:30am. From there we traversed the ridge to the summit of Mount Lincoln. From Lincoln we set off for the summit of Mount Lafayette around 12:15pm. We had zero visibility all day above treeline, making it tough to navigate certain sections and gauge how far we had to go. We finally have top of the line gear, except that my new new-matic BD sabretooth crampons kept popping off my Koflach arctis expe boots. After the 4th time they came off I switched to my hybrid crampons and life was swell. Took the Bridal Veil Falls trail 2.9 miles back to the trailhead, arriving around 3pm. Great day.
