Mike, this looks like a good page, but it is so wide that I can't read the text!
You absolutely must make those long URLs clickable. Refer to Question 8 on the SP FAQ Page.
It is interesting to note that the first man to do the Seven Summits, Dick Bass, climbed Kosciusko, and not Carstensz Pyramid, causing some purists to slightly discount his feat.
Also, I don't see any information about routes up the mountain. At the very least, directions to the start and a description of the easiest route should be provided.
I'm happy someone who is determined to put an effort into making a good page took over. I'm glad you included the Aboriginal name of the peak, which I was completely oblivious about.
Just one detail:
Is it correct to use letters larger than the headline in the links to Thredbo, in the mountain conditions section?
It steals the attention from the headline and (to me) it looks kind of messy.
Taken on a toughie, here attm since it not a very glamourous peak. Look forward to seeing it spruced up though. I think it deserves it. By the way it is located in New South Wales, with views to the south and west into Victoria.Four stars in anticipation.
I've "climbed" it several times. Hiked up in summer along the main range from Charlottes pass and X-country skied it in winter up the Ramshead from Dead Horse gap. It's a thousand miles from where I live these days though. I'll throw in what I can to help where possible,
Nice job Attm. I'm sure more will be added to this page in the area of photos and even routes. your section on "getting there" is complete. anyone looking to climb the mountain would enjoy this page as a valuable resource.
i'm sure there are many pages you can dig up and link to somewhere, but obviously this could be overdone.
Excellent post! I can't get over how rugged that peak is for a 7K foot peak the same age as the Apps. An impressive mountain that I would dearly love to hike.

Untitled CommentGood page now that it is in your hands.
I'm mystified as to why Kosciusko is counted among the Seven Summits. Is Carstensz Pyramid disqualified because it is located on an island?
There's probably a thread about it somewhere...
