Mount Ellinor Winter Ascent 1/1/2015

Mount Washington to the left

Went to check out the conditions on Mount Ellinor today and brought skis just in case. Road is pretty clear to the upper trailhead if your car can drive on packed snow with some icy patches. Snow wasn't great in the chute and postholing in the rocks for a few hundred meters wasn't much fun. Upper bowl was fairly well filled in but not exactly worth the climb if your objective was to ski. The couloir on the north side looks promising but the entire mountain needs a few feet of snow before it's skiable. Weather was fantastic and you could see all the way from Baker to St Helens.
