REI's Taku Pants offer the ultimate in versatility—with waterproof, breathable and lightweight stretch comfort. The Taku Pants are awesome for cold weather conditions when encountering windy, wet nasty weather. Athletic, close-fitting cut is thermally efficient and won't inhibit movement. Thigh vents allow air movement and help regulate body temperature, and articulated legs allow full range of motion. The Taku Pant features two welded hand pockets with water-resistant zippers; and a zippered rear pocket. Removable, internal back elastic belt adjusts waist circumference with rubber grips and hook-and-loop tabs at each side. The lower-leg zippers are designed with three-inch wide gussets to fit over a variety of boot widths. Hem drawcords cinch down securely over boots. The Taku pants are also windproof to 60 mph.
These pants are pretty good, they keep the wind and water out. The only thing I don't like about these pants is the velcro internal belt. I wish it had belt loops instead.
These pants rule, I use them all the time in the wet northwest for mountaineering, biking, hiking, snowshoeing. They always stay dry and are very durable. I also have the jacket and they make a smart looking as well as functional set.
The new style Taku Pants have belt loops and leg vent zippers down the side of the thighs. These are awesome, I will need to buy the jacket. They keep moisture out and suprisingly warm.
