These boots are great..... wore them for the first time to the Adirondacks (yeah, why wear a mountaineering boot to the Dacks..?), and due to the melt-down from on high, all of the trails were essentially streams. The boots is water-proof indeed; stepped in pools a couple of inches deep, no problem. Great traction too. Climbed Phelps on bare rock in the streaming water and no slip whatsoever. Boots are very stiff however and do take some breaking in to get used to. Also, they are a little hefty, but by day's end, I really didn't notice, as my feet were comfy and dry. Highly recommend.
