And hes off! He will make it, Everest is just a walk up anyway, the parts you climb have ladders already in place! Imagine that! 8)

He's within 300 vertical feet now, this is exciting to watch. Just hoping regardless of the summit that he gets down alright. Afterall, that is the first priority.

It appears that he may have made it and is now on his way down.

LA Times just reported a spokesperson said he'd called from summit (!) and was on the descent.

Barefoot.
Have to admit, looking at photos of the kid, he looks pretty down-to-earth. If that's true, and he's really a young Messner, than, well, money or not, it's pretty impressive that he climbed it.

You started this thread from day 1, based on your post.........you weren't a big fan of this at all. But this latest post, I think you may have taken a diiferent position? Am I reading 2 different views from you?

Circus Everest has done it again. People must be joking to even mentioning this kid and full scale alpine climbers in the same sentence.

So....Will this thread now whither away?

Now there will be some set of richass parents (House Wives of NJ, NY CA etc) somewhere on this planet that will do all they can to get their TWELVE YEAR OLD or younger child to the summit of the Big E.

Got have that record now to be someone....

Oldest, youngest, fattest, thinest, dumbest, smartest, first African-Am, first Mex, on and on it goes... bragging rights... yeah right!

My five-year old grandson loves to climb steep rocky hills. Now he wants to climb a "snowy mountain". hmmm...
