why carry something heavier than necessary? the small version of the full-blown Leatherman is a classic (the 'Juice'):

Edit: I haven't used any of their products...yet, but some of the stuff from Tool Logic made by SOG looks pretty sweet.

Brooks-Range Mountaineering makes a sweet tool for backcountry skiers.

This always mystifies me. I can't imagine any time I've ever been in the back-country when I've needed any tool beyond my knife. Much less one of those bulky, heavy multi-tools (pliers???). The minimalist kinds look like even bigger wastes of space considering the tools you usually end up with when they strip out the heavy stuff...why would I want a scissors and a mini-screw driver?

No way I'd bring anything more than a basic blade with a serrated edge. Maybe y'all are skiers...?

Bottle openers would be my one, very important exception...but my nut tool does that just fine thank you very much. =)
