Anyone in Bolivia during June and able to do the Ausungate circuit. About the second week in June. Takes about 5-6 days.

Just recently did it. Not many people on the trek, but that might be because I was slightly before the season during the end of May. Weather was not yet that stable but not too bad either. You could go alone and might meet a group on the circuit. Also it is easily possible in 4 days if you are in a hurry...

it´s a nice trek. Enjoy it!

How did you acclimatize before the trek ? Did you hike it 5 days in group in tents or alone or even using the huts in the area, like the person from LP forum ?

I did it in June 2011 and climbed Ausangate as well, just with my girlfriend and two horses with one arriero. We spent a few days in Cusco, visited Machu Pichu, another night in Cusco, then got a van to Tinqi. We spent a night at the pass, near Campa(?) for extra acclimatisation and because I climbed one of the sub-peaks early one morning before continuing the trek. I guess it depends where you camp that second night, but several days in Cusco walking around at 3300m should be fine for most people before starting.

We camped in our own tent and did our own cooking. The big hut near Ausangate BC was empty when we were there. It's not a bad looking hut, but it's big and looks out of place in such a wild environment. I'm not sure how that hut system is faring. Hopefully it genuinely helps the locals. If not, it's a mistake.
