Caucasus - Dombai-Ulgen

by andre hangaard » Fri Mar 04, 2016 9:48 am

Hello, I am ,making plans to climb Dombai-Ulgen in August. Has anyone experience from this mountain/region? I am trying to get in touch with a mountain guide office in the area. So far it seems not too easy to find one. Any recommendations are very much appreciated. /André

I live in Adygea, Dombay is not familiar to me. But I can advise you to refer to this email address - rescue@dombai.info.
Necessary page of site (in Russian) - http://www.dombai.info/info_instrmount.shtml.
Apply to Andrey Shvyrev.

Success to you!

Hi Kishar and Yury,
Thank you very much for your feedback. Sorry for late reply. It's not very easy to find info about Dombai guiding indeed. However, after research I have connected with these three operators. They all communicate very well in English and are very helpful:

Just returned from the amazing mountain Dombaj Ul’gen in the western Caucasus. We used the excellent service of the Russian operator mountainguide.ru. We did the normal route from the saddle (rated between AD+ and D- in various guide books) and had two outstanding guides. I can really recommend this area. A TR will be posted in a while.
