Front Range Day Hikes for mid-May - Recommendations?

by cdgraves » Sun Apr 06, 2014 4:31 pm

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Denver the 2nd week of May and want to get above treeline for an afternoon. No snow/ice gear or peakbagging, just regular hiking. A trailhead within 90 minutes of Denver would be ideal, as most of my trip will be spent visiting breweries, dispensaries, and apartment rental offices.

I did handful of the nice hikes and drives when I lived in Denver a few years ago, but it looks like many of my favorites will probably still be closed - Brainard, 4th of July, Trail Ridge, Guanella... So what other scenic stuff is accessible in May? Any good drives that might be better than the early season hikes?
