MH G50 vs. REI Signal Peak

by mbmsfreerider » Sun Jan 03, 2010 12:05 am

Both of these are on sale at REI. The G50 is $115 and the Signal Peak is $85. Both look good and are at a great price. I'm just curious if the Signal peak should perform as well as any other softshell or if this is a more casual everyday jacket. Any suggestions on either are appreciated.

I need a softshell for Alpine climbing, scrambling, and hiking.

Ha! funny, I just bought my son the G50, used, but in very good shape. Felt like he needed a softshell that was a bit more weather resistant than his driclime, and/or a heavier hardshell.
He loves it. He hasn't put it through the ringer yet, ie. anything other than wearing it around town, but, he does say that it handles the water much better than his driclime.
I can't speak for the Rei one you mentioned, but, hope my two cents helps.
