I'm up for Devils Lake in Sept. Not as hot or as busy in the park in Sept.

Why not have 2 Midwest outings at Devil's Lake, one in summer (July) and the other in fall (September)?

Sounds good. Two extra times to make it to the lake.

Not a bad idea to have 2, though, My september looks pretty open.

Should I bring my Canoe? :)

MIDWEST MEET UP

WHAT: Meetin, talkin, climbin, hikin, paddlin, chillin.

WHEN: July 10-12, 2009.

WHERE: Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI.

WHY: Why not?

It's official, now let's make it happen. Alpinist, can you get us the CMC site for Friday and Saturday night for that weekend? Does anybody want to work on some food arrangements? It would be nice to at least do a communal dinner one night.

Unfortunately it seems that whatever date we pick, a few people aren't going to be able to make it. Count me in for the July 11th weekend. I'm checking with the CMC regarding the use of their campground.

I have a Sierra trip planned for the first 2 weekends in Sept, but if another group of SPers wants to meet at Devil's Lake in the fall, I am up for it later in the month. Sept is usually a beautiful time of year up there as there are fewer mosquitos and it starts to cool down.

I will meet up on July 11th for the day. I will not be able to stick around all weekend but can definitely make it for the day.

I can make any weekend in September work. So if another one is planned count me in on that also.

I'm in for the July 10-12 weekend trip.

It'll be late Friday when I arrive - depending on 1) when I can get off work on that Friday, and 2) how long it will take to drive around Chicago as I figure it will be around 4-6 PM when I hit the south side traffic.

Probably won't be able to make in July, as I'm taking a 3-4 week trip starting the next weekend, but I'd be down for September, or most any other time.

Sounds like a blast!

That's seven (plus one) confirmed people for July 10-12. There are a lot of forum regulars who haven't posted in here yet. Please do guys. The more, the merrier, and I love merry :D

Hey Dan,
Hope you get to make it. Bring your wife along if that make it easier!!! I know how difficult it can be to find a free weekend in the summer.

FWIW - I'm heading to the Smokies this weekend - if the weather holds I'll hit Mt. Sterling and Mt. Cammerrer. Can't wait!

Happy Trails,
Mark
