I've been reading this huge trip report on the russian climbing site www.mountain.ru and thought that it could be interesting for SPers.

This summer 8 guys from Moscow did an almost 400-miles trek in Pamirs summtimng three summits over 7K. They spent ~60 days in the mountains, completely un-supported (no food drops, etc.), carrying all food and technical gear.

Their route was complicated as they obviously could not carry ...

Isn't it wonderful that new summits are popping up out of the blue?
If you fail to reach the true summit, you can at least brag about reaching the Central Summit. The way to do it is to be vague. Just say: I summited!
If you fail to reach even the Central Summit?
Don't worry, now there's a "North Summit".
It's not so important it's not a summit at all, but a point on the ...

A hiker injured his leg on top of the Owl on Sept. 14. A Blackhawk national guard helicopter being in the area rescued him.

Comments on the event ranged from good practice for the national guard and another who said to get a stick and crawl out.
