JD, yep, she was Mike's wife at the time. And did you know that the photo captioned "a novice making all the mistakes on an exit move" is Mike, at Indian Rocks.

TM huh? I'll have to take a look later.

That's funny about cams. I was a real holdout and wouldn't use them for a long time. I think Mike says somewhere in that book "some of my best friends use friends." Now I have 3 sets of Camalots, about 15 TCU's and on and on. I remember seeing Mari Gingery up at lunch rock at Tahquitz showing off a prototype tcu in about 1983. That got my interest.

And yes, now that I am older than I ever I thought would get I am a wimp too. :-)

Kris - what did you find at Pine Creek? We'll be heading there on Friday. From our previous trips (we, too, were in the lightning and snow on Johnson) I expect to find snow at 10,500 (Honeymoon Lake?) and sun cup hell most everywhere. We're heading for Julius Caesar.

Matt, we just hiked to the first lake. Spotty snow. We were up at Bishop pass on Saturday though. Snow varied from good consolidated to suncup hell...

We might cross paths up Pine Creek this weekend. We're heading up Saturday. Maybe do Julius C or perhaps head over to Royce.

A JD mystery post? Hmmm.

That looks like TM to me. I'll be seeing Mike Friday - I'll ask him.

J Caesar is our plan, too. We were thinking about Royce, Merriam, Feather and Caesar, but we decided to take it slooooooow. I guess it is vacation after all!

I had one of the best weekends I've ever had in my life, thanks to Summitpost members Carolyn, Bonita, Daniel, Eileen, Misha, Etsuko, Lily, and friends Shirley, Liz, Justin, Erick, Adrienne and my wife Alice. Climbing at Lovers Leap during the day, eating, drinking and having tons of fun at night at our house - it was the Perfect 4th of July weekend EVER!! Thanks to all of you, and thank you Summitpost for introducing me to such great people!!!

Had a great couple of days rock climbing around Lake Tahoe; saw some cool people I hadn't seen in awhile (sadly, we didn't get to hang out :( ); did a nice hike almost to the summit of Freel Peak (the highest peak in the Lake Tahoe region); overall a great weekend!

Nice meeting you too, Craig- I'm sure we'll see each other again. Next time maybe on a wall or at the campfire.
