Is it bad to recharge a lithium BC-400 battery before having run it out :?: It's for a d-SLR

My understanding is that contrary to older types of rechargeable batteries, the lithium ones last longer if they are charged frequently without letting them go completely dead between charges. The more frequent, the better. But don't leave them on the recharger any longer than it takes to charge them, which I understand to be harmful to their longevity.

I think that my recharger stops charging when the battery is full

I've been informed that is good (as you said peninsula) that lithium batteries don't run out completely never. Those are in d-SLRs and many mobile phones

Would you put a polarisation filter to a Tamron AF28-200MM F/3.8-5.6 XR Aspherical (IF) Macro :?: Or an HD filter :?:

Depends what you're trying to accomplish. I'm not sure what you mean by HD filter, but as far as a polarizer goes, see Gangolf's article.

One thing to keep in mind is that a polarizer will block something like half the light coming in, so don't leave it on when you don't need it. Your lens isn't super fast to begin with.

Sorry, I mean a ND filter... The problem with polarisation filters is vignetting with focal distances below 35 mm, I hate it

I bought the Nikon D80 last month. I'm not a camera techie, but I was pretty impressed with it on the one trip that I've taken. I wrote up a gear page and review for it. Peninsula and anyone else who has been using this camera longer, I invite you to add a review. Cheers.

I'll do just that. I do love my D-80. I got the 17-200 Nikkor lens to go with it, providing a very complete and effective one-lens set up.

Diego, the ND filter will only reduce light input and allow for longer shutter speeds. The polariser will reduce glare and often make images have better contrast, clouds stand out and make the sky blue (http://www.summitpost.org/article/20728 ... lters.html). You can get slim circular polarisers to reduce the vignetting, also remove the UVhaze filter if you have that on your lens as it only makes the problem worse.

I don't know what to buy. I've readen that both are good to take pics of rivers without the reflected light. Since vignetting is a handicap and I think that ND filters wouldn't add it I'm thinking on buying a ND filter instead

In the long run you will likely need both. Read this link:

In short.

The ND filter, which comes in different strengths related to the reduction in light it will transmit, allows you to use longer exposure (slow shutter speeds) and make all water movement blurry (example found on Flickr):

The polariser will reduce surface reflections and also reduce the light in put (about a stop):

Do you have access to testing them. Try shooting at F8 or higher and see if the vignetting is still present.

Have you noticed if the battery life got better with several charge-use cycles? That seemed to help the for the D200 users.

I haven't had the camera long and have only charged it a couple of times. I've not noticed a difference yet. Nikon recalled some of their Li-ion batteries, but not the one that came with my camera.
