MC, have you been hanging out on that "CA is best" thread? :wink:

PDBT, as you know it depends on conditions. Right now I'd say Russian couloir on Lincoln, Dead Dog on Torrey's, Angel of Shavano, Ypsilon, lots to do on Mt. Evans (hehehehe, and I'm 45 minutes away from THAT one...). There'll be plenty to do but if you DARE come to CO again without doing a climb with me I'll have yer knackers in a sack.

I have climbed the Cristo Couloir on Quandary in mid - May (prolly 5-6 years ago). Descended the standard route. Nice climb as long as snow conditions are right and avy danger low. Used Dawson's guide to predict sunhit (about an hour after standard sunrise)

From what I've read, May can be a good time of year for the Notch Couloir on Longs.

It's got lots of routes for all seasons including a chart showing when they're most likely to be in shape.

I second Dave Coopers book. Great beta on couloirs and approx. times to hit them.

Dave Cooper's book is an excellent resource. Year-round ops for sure, well-written.

The Trough is a great idea. The hike up to Black Lake alone is worth the trip. You just keep thinkin', butch. We'll be here.

Probably low- to mid-sketch. I tried that one July 4th weekend a few years back and it was in great shape.
