This CO/UT area look familiar?

by Baarb » Thu Feb 09, 2012 11:24 pm

Travelled quite a long way this day so lost track of the location, does this photo look familiar to anyone? It was from a view point in SW Colorado or SE Utah, was going from NM to the Grand Staircase area. Would be good to know where it was of! Thanks.

Looks like looking out over the Carrizo Range (of Arizona) toward White Mesa.

Been awhile since I was over there, so guess I could be blowing smoke ..

Taken from the NE slopes of Boulder Mountain along Highway 12 (between Torrey and Boulder/Escalante).

I was there this past June and remembered the scene, but wasn't going to answer without checking pictures stored away on an external hard drive. Thanks to Scott, we all get to know the names for what we are seeing, instead of just the name of the spot it was taken from...or some more smoke.

I worked out there for 3 years, spending over 200 nights a year in the field. When I see this view, I see home.

Thanks Scott and for the other replies. Certainly envious of anyone who has done more than drive through, it's a beautiful area.
