shepherd pass trail conditions.....

by yosemiteforlife67 » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:11 pm

Hello out there, i was just curious on how clear the shepherd pass trail might be at this point. I plan on heading out from the TH on june 27 and summit mt whitney on july 1. I am pretty sure there is not much snow left, but wanted to confirm if the trail from TH to pass is clear of snow, thanks.

I was just up there this past weekend (6/9-10/12) and there is no snow all the way up except for a couple of patches on the pass itself. The pass is easily passable without crampons. What's there has a nice boot track in it. It's extremely dry for this time of year. You should have not problem. Enjoy.

Thanks for the pics and the information!! We do have micro spikes and ice axe, but it will be nice to leave them at home. This year is about the opposite of last year, and this will just make it a little bit easier to get to that first camp. We plan on getting up to anvil camp the first night.
