I was in CA recently and our family went to Big Bear Lake. Least to say we didn't stay there too long. It began to sleet soon after we got there. Then turned into snow. We ended up leaving early because we didn't have snow chains. We did drive around the lake so my parents who are from Kansas could at least see it.
OK . . . is that a problem? Its the unpredictable nature of weather. The odds are very good it'll be sunny here in Southern California in October, but it not unusual to get an early season storm (and snow) once in a while. Its always a good idea to have a 'Plan B' ready in case something screws up 'Plan A'.
