snow conditions for fremont

by daishi » Tue Jun 24, 2014 12:05 am

Myself and 2 friends will be flying out from maryland to spend 8 days backpacking / climbing in the winds. Was thinking the 3rd class route on fremont would not be a bad start. Anyone been up recently and can describe the snow conditions? Next weeks forecast so far looks good.

The Hobbs Park snotel hit zero several weeks ago. You should be good to go.

For a comparison, this TR shows the snotel when we climbed Fremont.

Of course, in the Winds it can snow any month of the year ;-)

Yeah, it's fine. The ranges in WY varied greatly this year. The Bighorns still have 6-12" at just above 9700ft. Most years it would be at 11k by now.

Yea we normally schedule climbing trips in the fall and usually end up getting more snow than expected so this time we figured we'd try something a little earlier. Looking good. Thanks!
