Doesn't sound like it. The guy had time to go back to his car and get a gun, come back, then from a safe distance shoot her. Not cool.

Didn't need to see th pic in the second link. :(

They need to get CSI:NFS on this one.

If this guy doesn't get charged, I'm going to start carrying a pellet gun for defense against the threatening squirrels who always steal my gorp.

...maybe I should not be too harsh though...maybe his sister turned him down that day or he flipped his ATV or he suffered some other whitetrash hardship...really I must be more understanding.

Wow, this story makes me very angry on two accounts.

1. Clearly, the bear was not a threat if this loser took the time to return to his vehicle, grab his weapon, return to the bear and fire at critter at rather close range. If the man was so threatened, he would have stayed in his car and even driven off. Nothing in this story indicates to me that this guy was acting in self defense.

2. As a gun-owner, it makes me sick to my stomach that an this idiot would abuse his right to bear (no pun intended) arms in this manner.

The pathetic thing is, this guy probably thought he'd be praised as some kind of here. Pft!

Maybe the bear was an investment banker.

Fer Fucks' sake, that is sad. That Dickwad should pay a hefty fine, then, should be helicoptered and dropped into the Grizzly Maze, without so much as a Swiss Army knife, and come what may. . .

Excellent. I heard that October is a good month for the Grizzly Maze.

This guy needs to be punished. A "hefty" fine is not enough. I like the grizzly idea.

Yeah, October and the bears should be mighty hungry.

I was fishing Lake Mary a few days before and saw what was probably this same bear twice. One of the times I was with my twin 4 year old boys. At no time was the bear remotely aggressive and/or threatening. Hungry perhaps, but not aggressive. This kind of bums me out. What a freakin ignorant asshole.
