There is a forum in Germany and Austria called Gipfelquiz = summit quiz

I think it's a nice idea and it makes a lot of fun.

1) If you think you have the right answer, DON'T tell the name of the mountain.
2) Give the checksum of the altidude plus the last number of altidude.

For example: If you are thinking the picture is taken from Mattehorn 4.478

say "23/8" (checksum 4+4+7+8=23 plus 8 last number)

But you can also guess the region

Where is the picture taken from?

I' m not sure which peak exactly since I haven' t been to this area by myself. But the peak is above a large and rapidly melting glacier in the eastern alps close to a well known summit. I say 10/1 (and since there are many summits with that numbers, its name starts with 'R').

Eastern Alps = Yes
Melting Glacier = Yes

close to a well known summit ... very difficult to say

But the checksum is much higher !

yes, quite an easy one! - the viewpoint is 465m higher than the summit you see left of the middle of the picture

...well, this leaves only one option: 27/8

I think the man is british and one of the five summits of a very famous 4000er is named after this person?
