Climbed up from NW Slopes starting at Crags Campground. Good route, tiring but not extra challenging.
First fourteener. Manitou via Barr trail, it was a nice day.
via Barr Trail. One of the nicest graded trails I've had the pleasure of being on. It was quite the culture shock seeing all the fat people on top complaining about the lack of starbucks on the top or whatever the equivalent is.
Took the railway up... extremely windy at the top! Beautiful blue skies around noon (though views were hazy), but even with the cool weather and fall colors, a huge thunderstorm built over the mountain and ended up covering the state all the way to the Kansas border.
We rented road bikes to ascent Pikes Peak. Our first time on road bikes, which was a really cool challenge. Crazy to ascent such a high mountain by road bike.
Great training run on Barr Trail for Mt Rainier. Overnight at Barr Camp. Got the spaghetti dinner. It was worth it!
Lots of people on top!
Lots of activity at summit for some sort of auto race.
A bit of weather at the top, but otherwise a fun day.
First time running. Could not ask for a much better day.
Second time. Great race, great weather. The shuttle ride down was a pleasure.
"Climbed" the mountain with my brother when we were on vacation and mom didn't want to leave the house so she let us take the rental car to the cog railway.
Drove to top at the end of a 6 day hiking trip.
Hiked in 1998(?) via the Barr Trail.
Took the train back down with family. Their first time on a 14er.
This was my 7th time climbing Pikes Peak via the Barr Trail. This includes a climb back in '08, a training run and the Ascent in '15, and three training summits prior to the Marathon this year.
My best time yet in 4:24 up. Not disappointed at all. Figured I'd finally sign the climbing log.
Yeah, I drove up. Views were quite hazy, unfortunately. Made the side trip to the Devils Playground to tag the Teller COHP before heading to the airport (and tagging 3 more flatland COHPs on the way)
Expect a very long drive to the top if you go that route. Stop along the way for good pictures and rocks to climb.
