Enjoyed the summit with 100 of my new friends ;) There was a cold wind blowing at the top.
Wonderful views of the snow-covered peaks!
this was tough, but not too bad in the winter.
Great day for climbing. Very busy on trail and summit, as usual.
Great starter 14er. Get there early because this route gets packed on the weekends. It was a traffic jam as we were coming down. A number of mountain goats in the area.
Nice weather, many people on the trail and summit.
I was successful along with 40 other hikers, lots of dogs, some fighting each other, and an array of ham radio operators talking to other hams on other 14ers. East Ridge Route.
First fourteener. Summited with my son, Colin (age 8). What a great experience. I'm so proud of him. He was a real trooper. We met some really great people on our climb. All of them encouraging Colin and congratulating him on the summit. Our summit celebration was cut short when he began to show signs of altitude sickness. He snapped back once we got to the tree line and I even had to ask him to slow down so I could keep up.
Finally enjoyed a PBR on the summit, my fifth attempt! Crazy weather on this mountain, though Saturday's weather was near perfect.
I've done this one several times in varying conditions.
As my 5th repeater on the summer, I enjoyed a pleasant easy sloping hike up the standard route with 7 others. For 3, it was their first 14er. We carried little flags to the summit for an American celebration. A great day in all!
We tackled most of the towers head on, making this a solid class 4 climb. I would recommend this climb to anyone interested in a nice ridge climb.
This was a great introduction to 14ers for two in our group...short, gentle, and great views from the summit!
The weather was awesome on the summit!
The weather was perfect, clear sky, cool breeze...if only I didn't have to go to work after the hike I would have done another hike in the afternoon!!
Great 1st 14er experience. Totally got me hooked on climbing these things - and climbing in general. Perfect day - saw lots of cute little Pika's! Would suggest this peak to anyone!
Beautiful, sunny day, if a bit on the hot side. Loved all the deep snow still at the summit. I never cease to be amazed by all the people leaving the parking lot to hit the trail at 2:00 pm, hiking into the thunderheads. Whatever puts the wind in your sails, I guess. Climbing partner: Tom
Fun climb, snowshoes are necessary. Wish I had skis for the way down.
A great 2nd 14er!
Hailed on the climb up but turned out to be a very nice hike.
