Visegrád

Visegrád

The royal castle of Visegrád. The name is of old Slavic origin, means "high castle" (vyše hrad) - originally it was applied to an earlier fortifiation. The 328 m high castle hill rises approx. 230 m above the Danube river. This place hosted an important meeting of three Central European kings in 1335.
