> what does dake (or take) stand for?
Take(Dake) means mount in English.
For example, "Yari-ga-take" is basiccaly same as "Mount Yari" and "Kita-dake" is "Mount Kita".
Very nice pages you have entered, a new area for SP. I spent a couple of weeks by Matsumoto on business some years ago, and am now kicking myself that I was unable to get into the mountains near there.
Two suggestions: 1) if you have maps to post, that would be great. 2) Turn one of your excellent photos into a signature shot for the page. Instructions are on the "Edit" page.
One thing that might be helpful is to mention that in much of the climbing literature printed in English that the mountain is also often spelled as "Yaridake". This may help with cross-referencing other books/sources.
