This is the couloir on the High Traverse Route to Snow Moon Basin which needs to be negotiated with caution if it holds any lingering snow. We took a short detour around the bottom of the snow patch, and scrambled up exposed rock on the other side to regain the game trail back towards Many Glacier. A slip here could prove fatal; Lake Sherburne sits nearly 1,500 feet below.
Gordon Edwards describes a game trail a couple hundred feet below this point that can be utilized should this couloir prove too snowy to cross; I personally am not familiar with his route.
