Zion National Park is one of the most spectacular National Parks in the National Park System. It is a hikers mecca and it certainly is not hard on the eyes with its sheer vertical cliffs in Zion Canyon and mounds of slickrock on the east side of the park. There is a vast network of trails and routes including short hikes to wonderful waterfalls, long grueling treks to distant backcountry sites, intense big wall climbs and a variety of climbing routes and opportunities to peak bag. Zion is also known as one of the best places for canyoneering. Zion has two of the most popular trails in the park system: Angels Landing and the Zion Narrows. At the edges of Zion the beauty does not stop where routes like Mineral Gulch, Red Cave, Kanarra Canyon dot the landscape around the park. Some of the trails are daring and have steep drop-offs like Hidden Canyon, Canyon Overlook and the West Rim Trail. Outside of the main park is the Kolob part of the park, separated into two different sections: Kolob Terrace where the Subway and one of the world's longest arches are and Kolob Canyons near Cedar City.
