And the caption for this photo is?

Skyline Trail, Mt. Rainier NP - August, 2009 A couple of other hikers and myself stopped to watch this marmot crawl up on a large rock next to the trail, slide carefully down the rock and then take the pose you see here. How would you caption this picture?

May be he is...

disabled, but I doubt it. Disable animals don't last long.

Re: May be he is...

No...I don't think so since we watch him crawl and run around! My thought is he just wanted to cool off in the midday sun!

I posted this picture at work

and everyone added their captions. One of the best was: "Okay! I give up! Just take my picture and keep on walking!"

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free ..."

Maybe...

"I've come up with you all this way, but here it's curtain! Ain't goin' no further, no matter what ya do or say! Dear Barrack Obama, maybe you guys can - I ain't capable no more!"

Who of us humans can know what goes on in a flowsy dropsy wittle marmot's mind...

Re: Maybe...

The "mind of the marmot" contains a myriad of
memories of certain human beings giving it
food, when you're not suppose to give them
food within the Park.

Luckily, the marmot is only taking a break,
and not choking on a chicken bone or discarded "dried-up" french fry, for crying out loud.

Re: Maybe...

Yes, I see your point. It's true - same thing in the Alps as well.

Re: One flat rat

They're the largest members of the "ground squirrel" family.

Actually, their nickname is "Whistle Pig."
