Rare

How did you manage to shoot it? At a kind of feeding place or was the bird just hanging around by the trail?

Re: Rare

Shot was a 4x zoom and he was hanging around as well for a while.

This looks like

condor number -6. Or, if you turn your head
upside down, you get 9-.

Either way, it looks like this bird is having
fun watching for "road pizza," and keeping the
high desert clean!!

Re: This looks like

Larry, this is very good question I found some info on Condor marked AC-9 (In 2002, Adult condor #9 (AC-9), along with three year-old juveniles, was released into the Sespe Condor Sanctuary near the town of Fillmore, California. AC-9 was the last free-flying California condor captured for the conservation breeding program. As of December 2008 there are 327 individuals living, including over half of them in the wild...interesting. There was lots of money spend by US to keep these alive.
