Bruneggjoch (3365m) from the Abberg Glacier

The Bruneggjoch (3365m) is the high alpine saddle between Schöllihorn (3500m) and Brunneghorn (3833m). I'm on the Abberg Glacier, southeast of the saddle. On the other side is the big Brunegg Glacier, The sheer rock wall on the right of the photo is the Schöllihorn east face, the not particularly steep nearby ridge towards the left is the start of the Brunegghorn NW ridge. A bit further away, still on the far left, is Les Diablons (3609m). Earlier today, after walking up the gentle slopes of the Brunegg Glacier we've come across the Bruneggjoch. More precisely, we crossed the ridge a little bit south of the lowest point, where we found it easier to gain the ridge from the other side. Right now we're heading south, aiming for the highest point of the bergschrund at the base of the Brunegghorn north face. 6 July 2014.
