Jan approaching the bergschrund on the Brunegghorn north face
When viewed head on, it doesn't appear steep at all. And, sure enough, up to the bergschrund it's still possible to walk up. However, above it you'll need your hands - and, preferably, a couple of ice tools. To get a better idea about the angle of the face, just turn to the right, and it becomes clear:
