Curious Fox | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
While we saw fox tracks inside Rocky Mountain National Park, we saw this guy on the outskirts of Grand Lake. He appeared to be somewhat accustomed to humans and has probably received a handout or two. Grand Lake did not appear to have strong garbage regulations in place to control bear and other wildlife issues in town. Photo taken Nov 14, 2009. Voted 10/10 | I bet your dog wasn't anywhere close for this little guy to runaway.
Happy climbing.

Hasn't voted | Sadly, our dogs weren't with us for this short weekend trip -- they were back at home. I'm sure the fox wouldn't have been so calm otherwsie. | | Posted Nov 24, 2009 8:13 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks. We saw another fox the following day in Grand Lake as well. It's clear that they, and the bears in the summertime, have no issues finding food in town. | | Posted Nov 24, 2009 8:22 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks. You usually only see foxes for a few seconds before they're gone. It was neat getting to watch this one for several minutes. | | Posted Nov 25, 2009 7:10 am |

Voted 10/10 | ... in Granby. Grand Lake is a beautiful area, full of wildlife. I loved it!
We used to have a regular family of fox that we were able to watch.
Great shot!

Hasn't voted | That was our first time in that part of Colorado. Great area. Next time we'll head into the Indian Peaks Wilderness. We avoided it that weekend because it was the last weekend of elk hunting. | | Posted Nov 25, 2009 7:12 am |

Voted 10/10 | I rotated it in as the profile shot for the Canidae page; the small size doesn't quite do it justice but I hope people see it. | | Posted Nov 24, 2009 8:45 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks! Based on the tracks we saw, the foxes (and coyotes) are very active and abundant in that portion of RMNP. | | Posted Nov 25, 2009 7:15 am |
