nebbenRoute Climbed: Poison Creek Date Climbed: September 20, 2005  Sucess!

Very quick ascent, a little cool and windy at the top. SPanking new register in a fresh mailbox mounted on a new 4x4 post into the summit cairn. I hope it survives the winter! THe door to the mailbox at least may need some additional fixing to stay shut... Only a handful of goats visible, and I only really took in the views to the North/East/South. West was wiiinnndy and cold.

Left at the bend in the road at 7:00 am, had great weather with a return time of about 9:30. A lot shorter than coming from Mt. Holly direction.

A very short hike to a tremendous viewpoint. I'm looking forward to going back to hike the other 2 or 3 12'ers in the area.

grandwazooRoute Climbed: Elk Meadows - Mt. Holly Date Climbed: May 2000  Sucess!

Left from the main road and followed an old trail through logging slash. Reached Mt. Holly from the south and followed the ridge over to Delano. Also hit Lake Peak the same trip (by accident)

DeanRoute Climbed: cross country from west Date Climbed: 10-26-03  Sucess!

After having climbed Wheeler and Charleston Peaks in Nevada in the past couple of days, this was another chance to get a 12000 foot peak that I knew very little about. I had studied the maps and the description in a book called "High in Utah" (refers to the mountains of course) and a few trip reports found at www.cohp.org

It was interesting to park the car at a spot on the side of a rough forest service road at 10400 foot elevation and using map, compass and GPS, head off towards what I thought would be the peak. I hit a false summit first but it was fun scrambling in a few places and then coming up close to a band of mountain goats.

The peak itself was a great viewpoint of the interesting topography that makes up the surrounding countryside. Amazing colors. A good chance to get some exercise and a 12000 peak in on the otherwise long drive from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City.
