mountaingazelle ?

I'm not one to gossip, but I heard
from a reliable source that somebody
is planning to build a new ski area
in the Oquirrhs. It will be on the
Salt Lake valley side, north of
Bingham and in the "Blue Peak"
section of the Range.

Your photos ... WONDERFUL as always!
Makes me miss the Solutude area,
when I X-country skied and my
sister-in-law waited in the car,
because she was too cold. Thanks
for the memories & great images!!!

Re: mountaingazelle ?

Yes, they are thinking about building a ski area in the Oquirrhs. The location would be on land owned by Kennecott. I probably wouldn’t go there much anyway since it is far enough out of the way. But I guess it wouldn’t bother me as long as they do not build any more ski resorts where I live.

Pardon me ...

With all due respect, I won't be
going there (much) either. My point
was that amid all the chatter about
global warming, there are PEOPLE
actually planning to build a brand
new ski area. (Do those snow-making
machines really do a good job???)
I prefer the natural stuff, myself.

Re: Pardon me ...

I'm not really the right person to ask about this issue. We've had some dry winters for the past couple years due to global warming. Snow machines will definitely be needed at some resorts. The people who want to build the new ski area are probably not as concerned about the environment as they are about making money.

You're right...

I keep forgetting that the Oquirrh
Range is divided up into private
interests. Hey, I can handle it!!!

Makes me want to wander out into
the middle of the desert - and CRY.
Maybe my tears can ADD some WATER!!!
Have a nice day, mountaingazelle.
