Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze

Overview

Its a very fine and easy to recognize mountain above the "Ehrwalder Becken ".
Coming from Garmisch-Partenkirchen or from Fernpass, the Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze is a salient beautifully formed summit with no equivalent in the region.

Technically not difficult however somewhat laborious, the hike partly on tar, partly on crushed stones leads up to the Seebensee. The summitclimb on predominantly good rock is not under grade 2 and the route is not good marked (say better not) : you have to look for your way .
Descent partly in unpleasant broken stones. Helmet recommendable. Altogether a fantastic route !

from Vienna: via Salzburg-Innsbruck-Fernpass
from Italy: via Brennero-Innsbruck-Fernpass

* Innsbruck airport: approx. 70 km
* Munich airport: approx. 140 km

You start in Ehrwald at a small church ap 2 hours realy strait up to mountain. At 2100m at a saddle keep left at the´same heigt ap. 10 min then ,go streight up at the mountain from now you have to climb ap.2 hours and 350m height. If you think it's more then grade 2 youre on the wrong way .Note there much other routes but they are not so easy and therte is risk of falling stones

No perrmits but the normal fees at austrian motorways Easy to reach fom Garmisch Partenkirchen (and toll free tom )

When To Climb

I think in summer is the best time ,when you got snow you have to be very good and need aditional gear
