Re: LOLIt is unfortunate Vitaliy M.
At first I thought it was dadndave who did this, as he was online at the time, but there were 2 hidden users and dadndave seemed unaware of it when he conversed with me earlier today.
It appears this mod has hauled off and done this unilaterally, and now I am stuck with the consequences of his ill-conceived actions. And he will not even own up to it and say who he is, and still hasn't even explained why he did it without a warning, or why he did it at all.
I've put too many hours into this site recently, both submitting content and working in good faith with the mods to improve both the forums and especially overall site content and functionality (with the select few of the mods who care about that sort of thing). We had been cooperating on all levels.
It is really sad that this is what they think is appropriate for those who contribute.

Re: LOLI had a similar experience on "mbPost.com," SP's sister site.
I was banned from the forums for three days,
without any warning or any reason given.
No apology was given after I was let back on.
Chad, maybe you should wait a few days to
see if they let you back on.
Then again, it would only be FAIR for them to give you an explanation. Best of luck.

Re: LOLwho would ever ban you??

Re: LOLDon't know, but they never "owned up" to it.
Every banning should come with an explanation,
at least in my most humble and unabashed opinion.

Re: LOLThat is absolutely ridiculous Larry. For you to be banned is outrageous, and I certainly agree they should own up to it, in all cases. They should state their reasons immediately. It doesn't take days or even hours to put something like that together.
The objective of those running the site should be simply to encourage participation and help develop positive contributions of site content.
Thank you for your comments here.

Re: LOLSo did they ban you or delete your forum account (like they did to me, without any warning as well)? Because if it was a ban, the other mods can lift it right?
It is true that you worked to improve content here, and at least some respect in form of explonation would be nice...seems like someone really hates you.

Re: LOLThey banned me. It can be undone. To have deleted my forum account, or really any user's forum account, is beyond reasonable. Mistakes can be made, and you can alway leave a ban in place long term if that is the approprate thing to do.
I've spent 100s of hours contributing content, and working with others on their contributions. I really like a lot of people here and I try to be a benfit to them, but that's starting to become more challenging than it should be.
The lack of explanation and anonymity around this is what really makes this an issue for me especially after I had been working with some of them to improve content thoughout the site.

Re: LOLThis next quote I'm about to say does not pertain to the current elves who have been very good to me, but this reminds me of back in the day of what I would say. "Only an Elf Deals an absolute". This was back in the day where I was banned without warning. Ever since I watched my back. But no explanation... lame! I do admit from time to time I do see a little bit of tension in some of your posts. Perhaps that might have been part of the reason?

Re: LOLI'd agree that the handling of this is the biggest issue at the moment. I've PM'd the mods about this a couple times, and the only response I have gotten was one from dadndave stating that it wasn't him (I had assumed it was) and he wasn't aware of what had happened. Whoever took action failed to even take 2 minutes to state why they did it. Just silence.
True I can take a solid stance in the forums. I try to spice things up a little and make it interesting. But I mostly limit those types of posts to people I know. Also when concerns have been raised I have been very responsive. Difficult to do when there is a communication gap though.

UnfortunateSeems umpteen people have left SP over the years because of conflicts with other users. One would think or perhaps just hope that the people behind the scenes were the most reasonable and interested in the site's welfare. Perhaps other skills or motives trump such ideals. Alienating remaining people who are actually trying to help out with their own time seems counter-productive to me.

Re: UnfortunateI would hope that too Baarb, but I do not think it. There are absolutely some that are very dedicated to helping the site, and I have gotten along with them recently despite past differences with some. But others seem to have other motives. I cannot think of any other justification for how this is currently being handled.

Just my opinionI don't think you are helping yourself with this course you're taking. I think you are digging your own hole......and I will say this again and I know the Mods are against it but if the SPer is fine with having the reasons for being banned posted, they should be. Once again, just my opinion.
mrchad9 - Nov 15, 2011 1:23 pm - Hasn't voted
Re: Just my opinionHelping myself? What do you think my objective is?
If you read my comments carefully, you should see that my objective here is not to focus on helping myself. Rather it is to raise the issue over how the communication is handled.
Nevermind that there was no communication for the reasons to others on SP, as you suggest, but there was not even any communication to me about the reasons, or even an acknowledgement that I was banned from the person who did it.

surrealIf you'd been really banned without a word of explanation and no one answers your PM's, that's just outrageous. No offence meant but it's kinda like a stereotypical woman with PMS, like 'you should damn well know why I'm pissed off with you'...
cheers
