Approach

From the A5 at Idwal Cottage take the lakeside path to Cwm Idwal and on to the climbing area of Idwal Slabs

Route Description

This route will be enjoyed by gully freaks but it is extremely wet and initially under a brooding overhang which adds to the drama of the surroundings. The rout is also full of lichen so wear good boots.
Ascend for 10m up the initial slabby ledges and under the overhang/roof. The first part is quite steep and the less experienced may want to rope up. The angle now lessens and you can pull up, or belay, on rock spikes. Now curve left towards the waterfall, traversing narrow ledges to drier ground. Continue l20m left of the watercourse, trending left again towards orange lichen tinted slabs. At this point, instead of continuing upwards to join Seniors Ridge, continue left until you are starting to descend towards some steep cliffs. Take Care!! To the right of the cliffs there is a rocky gully which can be down climbed or rapelled down to a track leading back to Cwm Idwal. This is a shorter finish to avoid the round trip to th summit of Glyder Fawr

Essential Gear

Good scrambling shoes, for confidence a harness, rope, couple of slings and krabs, belay plate
