| Easily made it to the peak hiking cross country much of the way from Sample Meadows (after turning back early on a couple of previous attempts). Took a wrong turn right after dark about a mile from camp and wandered around all night covering much of the trail system. It was not cold and there could be many worse ways to spend a night. | ||

| Overnite snowshoe trip. I was a little disoriented I guess... I reached the summit sooner than expected, picked up my pack intending to continue on toward the west, when I realized that I was already on the highest point. Outstanding view- especially in the winter months when the air is clean and windswept. | ||

| Day hike from D&F Pack station. Encountered some snow and the trail was covered in sections. It's very cool to see the Sierra from the west side. On the way down, we checked out College Rock - quite neat rock formation and spot to view Huntington Lake. | ||

| Spring, Fall, and now Summer check. Tried 3 times to summit it in the winter. Try again winter 2011. Today was fun, a little hot. Up in 3hrs from the pack station and back in 2hrs. | ||

| Deer Creek Lane was just melting out and managed to drive to within a couple 100 yards of the trailhead (4x4 could make the end). Went directly upslope to College Rock and wore snowshoes from beginning to end, had perfect weather and views. Camped overnight in the meadow above College Rock. | ||

| Hiked in from D&F Pack station; great views the whole way up. No people. One of my favorite ridges, especially considering the ease of access and great weather. | ||

| Very nice hike. Beautiful views from the top. Did it 2 years ago over 4th of July weekend. There was nobody else on the mountain and still quite a bit of snow on the top. We lost the trail on the bit up, but if you stay to the right of the gully you are okay. | ||

| cdog | freezing night on Kaiser ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 3, 2001 | |
| making the most of winter break from college, I met up with my buddies Walt and Roger in Fresno and headed up to Huntington Lake. We had no idea how cold it was going to be, but had a nice start to the climb. Parking at Lakeshore Resort and hiking by the pack station, I found a sledding saucer in the road. I grabbed it, and it would come in handy - because later we learned that we had forgotten the lid to our pot and this was going to help our water heat up. Eventually the temps dropped, and we neared the summit around dusk. We set up our 2-man tent for the 3 of us, and had a rough, cold night on the top of Kaiser. It was approx 20 deg F below zero, with brutal winds that made it seem much colder. Our 3-season tent let in inches of spindrift that night, adding to the adventure. In the morning we ran over to the true summit and got the hell out of there. Unfortunately, my truck radiator had frozen, and it was still below zero at Huntington Lake (~7000'). I overheated going up Tamarack Pass, but luckily we were able to eventually limp it over the hill and had beer and food at Trappers in Shaver. Good times. ![]() ![]() | ||

| Still a bit of snow above 9k, but nothing substantial. Pics here: http://www.fedak.net/albums/KaiserPeak2.html Tried to head down the back side to George Lake, but there was still substantial snow in the canyon and I didn't have my axe/crampons | ||

| Dayhiked from D&F pack station, then west on the loop trail down past Nellie Lake, through Mary's Meadow and back. 14-15 miles / 3500' gain I would guess. The trail from the pack station was mostly clear up to about 9200', but west of the peak the trail was mostly under snow down to about 8200', making for some fun navigation :) -- Date Climbed: 30-May-2004 Started from Nellie Lake east on Kaiser Loop Trail. North slopes of ridge still had remains of big cornices in places. Excellent views. Saddle above George Lake also had remains of a cornice, but the rock scramble was dry, with some low-angle snow down to College Lake, where a ducked use trail descends to George. Fun little trip. -- Also did it as a short backpack trip in June 2001, starting from D&F, overnighting at Line Creek Lake and returning through Mary's Meadow (etc). | ||

| SeanReedy | Fun scrambling! Date Climbed: Aug 4, 2007 | |
| I went on a day hike with Juan and the dogs on a weekend camping trip at Sample Meadows campground. This was my first trip to the Sierra National Forest area besides incidentally driving through on trips to Yosemite and SEKI. I will definately be back! We did lots of fun scrambling in the Kaiser Peak area. The next day we parked at Mono Hot Springs and scrambled ESE up to what I discovered was Mono Peak. There was no current trail register up on Mono Peak, but I did come across some faded notes and signatures from the 1930's scribed on metal plates. | ||
