| ...with my love, Jeff :) and yes, twas a slightly painful hike. I usually go faster than other people, and am most familiar with the San Gabriels. Lamont took my breath away and made me realize how much I have to go (in terms of my bodily strength), and makes me want to further explore the (amazing! wonderful!) Sierras. gorgeous | |

| Short, steep, and enjoyable hike, followed by Sawtooth in the afternoon. Also climbed nearby Lamont Point a couple of days later--pretty cool summit block. I might come back to do a loop around Lamont-East Lamont-Spanish-Lamont Pt-Sawtooth sometime. This is a great area. | |

| Probably would find a way to scramble over to Lamont Point if I did it now, just to make the day more interesting :-) Sweet views of Spanish Needle, Owens, Olancha, and even up to Langley. | |

| Started out in the clouds. A light rain soon turned to snow, which dusted the pinons and sagebrush. Visibility was never more than 100 yards. I climbed the wrong summit first, then found the correct one. A very peaceful outing. I probably liked this better than if the weather had been clear. | |
