Overview

This excellent trailhead allows access to many peaks. First of all, it lets you hike to Crater Lake and the Lone Eagle Cirque. Also, it provides access to Buchanan Pass, to Pawnee Pass, and to Arapahoe Pass as well. There are many peaks to climb from this trailhead, and it makes a great place to hike. There are bathrooms at the trailhead, and you have to pay a $5 entrance fee to access the area, but the fee is well worth it.

Getting There

From Granby, go north for about 5 miles and turn fight onto county road 6, and come to a fee station. Continue on the now dirt road for almost 10 miles to the big rock campground.Stay straight on the road for 0.7 miles till you come to the Monarch Lake Trailhead. Park in the area and start your great day.
