| Climbed up Register Ridge then on to the summit of Baldy. Came down the Ski Hut trail. Icy near the top. Perfect weather. Had the summit to myself. | ||

| SkyPilot84 | Nice Summer Dayhike ![]() | |
| We tried to descend the Baldy Bowl trail after coming up the other way and got a little off track. I think we got distracted by plane crash wreckage (or something resembling it). So we just went cross country back to the highway and hiked 1/4 mile back up to the car. All in all, a fun adventure. | ||

| Cedar | Windy (and Cold) Day ![]() Date Climbed: Nov 11, 2009 | |
| Took the ski lift up to the Notch at around 9:30 AM. Reached the top at 12 and went over to West Baldy for some open space (all the wind-breaks on the summit were taken). It was the windiest I've seen on the mountain. The wind made the cold quite a bit worse. Left the summit at 12:45 PM and reached the Notch at 1:50 PM. Left the Notch on the lifts at aroun 3:00 PM (after a big group of 31 went down). Now that was one COLD ride coming down with the freezing winds! | ||

| Did this one in the dark as I got going too early. Sun came up about halfway down. Glad to grab this one while on a family trip. Pics and map at http://www.willhiteweb.com/california_climbing/los_angeles/mount_san_antonio_421.htm | ||

| Since I see this mountain everyday, I knew I had to climb it. Hiked via the Devil's Backbone. Great views from the top stretching all the way to the Channel Islands. Beautiful wind-stunted trees along the way. Loved the hike! | ||

| Iron Hiker | Baldy the first time.....the Hard Way ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 25, 2009 | |
| Decided to climb Baldy from the North Backbone via Wrightwood - quite the butt-kicker. Ascended Wright, Pine, and Dawson along the way and did it all in reverse too. But it was a rewarding day in the mountains all the same! Reclimbed via the Bowl and down via the Backbone on August 18, 2012. Clouds blowing over the top kept things cool, a very neat experience. | ||

| 2nd time on Baldy this year. Once in March with more snow and this trip with little/no snow. Look forward to glissading down the bowl in the winter and spring. | ||

| Baldy Bowl is a great place in the winter for practicing snow skills. Easy to get to and a nice local snow climb. I usually stay away in the summer because it gets soooo crowded. | ||

| Sam Page | Complete south ridge ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 29, 2009 | |
| The ridge I am calling the south ridge is the one the ski hut trail finishes on. From Manker Flats, I descended about 100 yards, turned right on the residential road, and slid my way down to the stream bed. Then I groveled up the line of least resistance (which turned out to be a lot of resistance) to the ridge, which I followed to the intersection with the ski hut trail and on to the summit. The ridge (below the intersection) has a wild, untraveled feel, with lots of open rock and the occasional scramble. The total elevation gain is about 4200 feet, and the ascent took me 3.5 hours. I give it a class 2 rating. To my enemies I would recommend the grovel to the ridgeline, and to my friends I would recommend the walk along the ridge. | ||

| vyzer | Great feeling ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 13, 2009 | |
| The air was the most hazy I've seen in a long time, but I had a day off and had been wanting to climb Baldy, so I went for it. The views were obstructed, but the feeling of reaching the top after hiking a rocky trail for 3 hours was greatness! | ||

| missymtngirl | Yay......I did this hike along with the rest of Southern California!!! | |
| What can I say...it had to be done. I've climbed this about 3 times now. All I can say is I'm glad I'm still alive. Let me tell you...doing this hike with dark clouds rolling in can be hazardous for your health...this is the closest I've ever come to being struck by lightening. The image of a perfectly shaped bolt will forever be ingrained in my mind. I'm glad the devils backbone was merciful that one eventful day! Year Climbed: 2005 | ||

| KVHiker | 6 Peaks 8000 Feet ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 20, 2009 | |
| There were a lot of hikers in this section of the trail which is pretty steep. We moved right along amidst the traffic up the bare landscape via many small switchbacks. Mount San Antonio is also known Mount Baldy. Mount Baldy is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains with an elevation of 10,064’. There is no register up there, but there is a giant plaque which I took a picture of. The distance to San Antonio from Mount Harwood is .8 miles, and the elevation gain is 704’. After enjoying the amazing view for awhile we headed over to West Baldy. Photos | ||

| Went up from Blue Ridge road, over Pine and Dawson, then finally up Baldy. I figured being near LA we'd see tons of people - only 3 all day on this route, but plenty on top. The route itself? Steep, steep, and steep, but very scenic. | ||
