Overview

Volcanos Aag and Arik belong to the Avacha-Korjakskij group of volcanos, and they bound this group from north-west. In fact, it is possible to talk only about volcano Aag, as Arik seems to be his lateral part. Glacier evolution and strong erosion have influenced the shape of Aag and his lateral conus during centuries.

Aag / Arik, and Korjakskij volcanos as can be viewed from the SW. April 2002.

There are many cirgues and steep gorges on the slopes, and most of them are on the south-west slopes. Although one of the gorge is near the summit of Aag on north-east slope. A talus cone from the summit leads straightforwardly to it, and this is one of the most dangerous part both during the ascending and descending volcano.

A whole Aaag is compouned from three rocks: heavy layer of rock, magma and igneous rock, and finally andesit. However, volcanos are completely inactive now.

Several low-temperature springs occur in the upper part of river Shumnaya in the north-west base of Aag
