Harcuvar Peak is located in the Harcuvar Mountains. This rugged desert peak rises prominently above the McMullen Valley just west of the Harcuvar Mountains Wilderness Area. Harcuvar Peak is an largely unknown mountain. Smith Peak, the range highpoint, attracts most of the attention in this area. With a good road that leads to its summit, Smith Peak makes for a much easier ascent. Harcuvar Peak, on the other hand, has a rough access road and a rugged desert climbing route. Few people climb it. Harcuvar Peak is located on BLM land. With an elevation of 4,618', Harcuvar Peak ranks way down on the Arizona elevation list. But the new field of Prominence has made Harcuvar Peak a more important mountain. With a prominence of 2,048', it's just big enough to make an appearance on the Arizona Prominence Map.

Getting There

From the small town of Wendon, drive north on Alamo Road. See the attached driving directions from Peter Bengtson. Your goal is to reach this wash marked as elevation 2368 on the topo map. Park here.
