Product Description

In general, this guide provides the expected route descriptions, topos and locator maps needed to climb at the Pinnacles, NM. There are chapters on the natural history and geology of the Pinnacles, in addition to chapters discussing the history and climbing scene at the Pinnacles. Finally, there are chapters on bolting. As most climbs at the Pinnacles are bolted, these chapters are very relevant.

The Definative Guidebook for the Pinnacles
My major complaint about this guidebook is that is over 10 years old, and at this point, somewhat out of date. For me most climbing trips to the Pinnacles involve a web serach to see if the information in the guide book is still valid. Some bolts have been replaced, other bolts have been added.

Another minor complaint is that I find it somewhat difficult to find formations in the High Peaks, based soley on the information in the book.

That said, my copy of the guide book is well thumbed and notated.
I understand that a new guidebook for the area will be published soon; I am looking forward to being able to buy a copy. However, I suspect that I will still use Rubine's guide.
