The trail from Monarch Lake can be linked up to Solo Flight, (Class 4) and that does take you to the summit. The other 2 routes I mentioned are technical routes that you can access via the Monarch Lake Trailhead.
I'm surprised that Lone Eagle didn't have a page already! Huh! Great start and some good text in the overview section. A few concrete things to add, however. First, if you put in lattitude and longitude, you'll get a topozone map link on the left. You should also select some mountain group membership ("Front Range CO" at least, I think there's an "Indian Peaks" category as well).
Getting there: some more details about the Pawnee Pass approach might be good.
Mountain Conditions: find a link to a weather site (NOAA, etc) for a nearby town (Grand Lake? Winter Park?). See some of the other IPW peak pages for an example.
Of course, routes are also key for this kind of peak. Other people may supply some, but it wouldn't hurt to put up the 'standard route' since this is a technical peak, not just an obvious walk-up.
Agree with the previous votes on all points. Also, a pitch by pitch route description of the north face would be great so the rest of us can climb it. :-) Contact info for the Indian Peaks Wilderness in the Red Tape section would be helpful. And finally, a signature photo would be the icing.
Good start to a great mountain. I've always wanted to do the north face.
So glad to see this peak finally has a page! Great pics, great info. I agree some more detailed route info would be helpful, and CharlesD had a lot of good points on improving the page.
Looking forward to visiting this peak some time...
Welcome to SP and thanks for posting a page for Lone Eagle.
The coordinates are lat = 40.0714, lon = -105.6597.
My suggestion for the weather info is to use this link to NOAA. It gives the forecasts for the grid point used by NOAA closest to Lone Eagle.
One more recommendation. Instead of posting corrections to your own page, just edit it. The SP FAQ give you step by step directions on how to do that, and the link to them is at the bottom of all SP pages. If, as I hope, you are going to contribute more pages (summits and routes), it will pay off to spend some time perusing the FAQ.
One last thing. Wouldn't JackB's photo make a grand signature pic?
Welcome to SP. I like your passion for this mountain and you convey it well in your overview. However, there is no route description and this peak needs one in the worst way. It's my opinion that this peak shouldn't be submitted unless it has a route description. Everyone knows of this peak, I mean everyone. But not many know anything about the route. So basically, having this peak on SP is no big deal until we can see that route.
In the past, others have tried submitting this peak but all of us freaked out because they hadn't climbed it. This page is basically what we would have expected from some one who hadn't climbed it. When the route is posted please let me know, and I'll change my vote to 4 stars. I would post a photo or two of the crux on the Solo Flight Route.
Most of the pitches on this route are grassy scrambles and easy slabs. One requires some chimneying. The crux however, is stellar and not to be missed. It's very long, so bring enough slings. You have a twin crack system that you access right off the big grassy ledge near the top. Such a good pitch.

Untitled CommentLooks good. Will these trails take you all the way to the top or are routes pages forthcoming?

Untitled CommentCool. Nice job. As someone who has never been to the mountain before, I was just curious what the routes are. Thanks.

Good page, but a route would be of great help. Four star minus.
