What's New in CALIFORNIA
Posted: Wed Nov 10, 2010 12:29 am
This thread is a location for SP'ers to post new Mountains & Rocks, Routes, Areas & Ranges, Trip Reports, or Canyons located in scenic California.
Feel free to post your own or someone else's new items that fall in these categories. Sometimes, not always, it might not be thought of as good form to advertise your submissions. That is not the case here. Please try to stay on topic!
I got the idea for this thread from the What's New in Europe thread, and the current discussion around making new things more visible, especially if they are good. My hope is this works a little different than the Europe thread though (for example, posts will not be deleted). Post them even if they are not great pages, my hope is that by having the new item referred to in a forum post, rather than the content portion of the site, people might be more willing to offer constructive criticism (or praise), suggestions for additions, and help make the pages better (I am reluctant to do this elsewhere as I do not want it to be poorly received). If your page is not perfect, expect others to offer help and suggestions. If you receive it, use this to make your pages better.
I will kick it off, with some great recent new items in my view:
From Marcsoltan:
Two rock climbs in the Alabama Hills
Nut Towers: http://www.summitpost.org/nut-towers/675275
Earthday Dome: http://www.summitpost.org/earthday-dome/674129
and the route from North Lake to Piute Pass: http://www.summitpost.org/north-lake-to ... ail/676690
From Vitaliy M:
Pop Bottle, at Lovers Leap: http://www.summitpost.org/pop-bottle-5-7/677288
From Noondeuler:
Blanco Mountain, in the White Mountains: http://www.summitpost.org/blanco-mountain/673911
From Day Hiker:
The route from Towne Pass to Pinto Peak: http://www.summitpost.org/from-towne-pass/676370
This last page doesn't have a lot of fancy photos, but it has distance, elevation gain, hiking time, a good description, a photo of the route, and a map. Everything you need for a visit is there.
